The Trouser: These pants are perfect for day or night. Dress them up in heels or dress them down in rugged boots. I've worn them here with vintage combat boots, a wool cardigan, and a scarf. It's casual and so comfy. Trousers like these can be found anywhere. J Crew has nice ones that can easily be made your own with the right accessories. I was inspired by the idea of a vintage British newsboy look. Very masculine meets feminine and always practical.

The Knitted Dress: This dress is a great layering piece that can also be worn alone. I've paired it here with a classic black wool coat. It very much reminds me of the mod 60's. The texture and color blocking of the dress has a very retro feel and keeps you warm in the winter. Knits are everywhere right now. H&M has some great knitted pieces in a bunch of different colors. Vintage stores also have tons of great wool knits!

The Chunky Scarf: In the winter, I love oversized things from sweaters to scarves. Rather than a chunky knit, why not try out a larger and softer one in a bright color. An easy way to spruce up a drabby winter look. It's both light weight and adds volume. I was inspired by Ashley Olsen's effortless and simple accessorizing. She makes a statement with one piece.

The Maxi Dress: I wanted to find a way to bring my summer staples into my winter wardrobe. Look for a dress like this one, with a thicker jersey material. So soft and comfy. Perfect to layer under a simple leather jacket and topped off with a knitted hat. It's an easy way to transform a summer piece into a winter staple. I was inspired by models Erin Wasson and Daria Werbowy. I was also inspired by Alexander Wang's collection. Very model off duty.
