Runway Files

PONY RYDER: Let's start with fashion week memoirs...
IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: This fashion season was a blur of coffee, friends, stress and fun for me. I remember each show I did for a different reason, but some of my favorites were the Gucci show in Milan (great music) and the Chanel show in Paris because it is always an incredible, extravagant production and the food backstage is delicious. A fresh smoothie at 6am is definitely the way to start the day!

ph. Chadwick Tyler

IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: I loved New York fashion week because it was the start, so I wasn't so tired. Half way through, my agency had a huge 20th anniversary party which was fun and so nice to see everyone. I also really enjoyed going to Chadwick Tyler's 'Tiberius' exhibition as I love his work.

London fashion week was really tiring, but so nice to be back home. Unfortunately I got a fever but I honestly think that working so hard and not having a break made it go away - I didn't have time to stop and feel it!

angelo marani runway, style.it

IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: One of my favorite memories is riding the bus from Louis Vuitton to MIU MIU. All the girls were so excited and on a mental high because it was the last day of the shows. There were ladies doing our nails, people taking pictures, people singing… it was just such a fun way to end my fashion week with some of my good friends.

PONY RYDER: How do you organize your education and school during fashion week?

IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: With difficulty!!!

dazeddigital.com @ TFS by stefanelle

PONY RYDER: Tell us more about the NY Fashion Week.
IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: That’s so difficult! I love NYFW because I love the city itself. I was staying in an apartment with two other girls (Katie Fogarty and Mathilde Frachon) and we just had the most fun two weeks running around and found we did quite a few similar shows.

zimbio.com @ herrera

PONY RYDER: Who is your favorite designer in NY?
IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: One of my favorites was Phillip Lim - me and Hanne Gaby (Odiele) were dancing backstage in our wigs and there was live music. It was so much fun, and I absolutely love the clothes. Herrera was beautiful too, and Philosophy was fun because a lot of my friends did it. One of my favorite things about New York fashion week is the big tent! Going there at 7 in the morning you can be sure a big cup of coffee and some fresh breakfast will be waiting for you.

PONY RYDER: Does appearing on the NY runways have more relevance for a model's career, or is Paris Couture considered more prestigious for a model?
IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: I haven't done couture yet because of school, but as far as I know it is important. I think NYFW is too because it often sets up a model for the rest of her season.

catwalking.com, iperlchen @ TFS

PONY RYDER: What was your favorite collection this season?
IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: This season I really liked Vuitton, Phillip Lim, Herve Leger, Chloe and MIU MIU amongst others. I would love to walk for Givenchy and Balmain because I think the clothes are incredible and wearable.

supreme models polaroids

PONY RYDER: Being British, you probably drink tea.
IMOGEN MORRIS CLARKE: Haha! I actually hate tea... My family (all obsessive tea lovers) think I’m so strange. I am an utter coffee addict, I can barely walk straight without it. I started drinking it because during my first few shoots I wasn't used to working so hard and didn't have enough energy.. and now I’m hooked. It’ll be my new year's resolution next year… switch to tea!

BEAUTY BREAK with KINGA RAJZAK

Posted on: 2009/04/22

Ph. Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia

Beauty Talk with model star Kinga Rajzak

Kinga Rajzak is with IMG (NYC, Paris), Why Not (Milan), Exit (Bratislava).

PONY RYDER: What is your favorite photo of yourself?
KINGA RAJZAK: I am really not besotted with myself. More to the point I do not like myself. And I am very critical of the pics taken of me...

source: nevena @ TFS /nymag.com/

Face...

PONY RYDER: Models have to have beauty secrets or at least beauty tips. Can you tell us some of that?
KINGA RAJZAK: I like cosmetics...I have many things I love to use but it is more of a vanity thing. Vanity of the unconscious. As I mentioned before I don’t think I am 'beautiful' so all my beauty product are rather the 'by-products’ of my passion for herbs, smells, fragrances and textures. The creams I use aren't 'tools' to keep my looks stunning. They are there to please my senses and not to create a 'flawless complexion’. I don’t care about the latter.

KINGA RAJZAK: Plus a real beauty secret to write something relevant here: (the hundred million times mentioned, boring advice): water!

Source: Nevena @ TFS / new york mag/

PONY RYDER: When it comes to make up, you probably use it for going out...
KINGA RAJZAK: Not always. If I go out in London I use my MAC eyeliner and red lipstick. I just recently got a wonderful pair of fake purple eyelashes. I cannot wait to use them, haha...London has different atmosphere than NYC. I am much more relaxed and experimental here.

The Body...
x
PONY RYDER: How do you stay in shape?
KINGA RAJZAK: I remember those years of running 2miles a day, doing yoga, stretching and playing tennis...Now I rather prefer the university library to the gym...Of course I still do go and swim sometimes which is, to my mind, one of the most intelligent and enjoyable sports - there is no sweating, no mess ,it is fun and the results are wonderful.

Considering food I am going to coin a cliché: You are what you eat. (Well then I am either a fish or a chocolate covered Brazilian nut, haha)

ELIZA CUMMINGS: model interview

Posted on: 2009/04/13

Ph. Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia
x
Eliza Cummings
the Model Interview
x
Eliza Cummings
@ Select (London), Women (Milan), Nathalie (Paris).
Ph. Sølve Sundsbø for I-D magazine
The Interview

PONY RYDER: You are undoubtedly the new „IT“ girl. Once again, a cool girl is coming from the London fashion scene. Is London style a goldmine for cool talent?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: What is an “it girl”? I hate it being classed as an it girl, I’m a model.

Ph. Jeffrey Graetsch for Anthem

PONY RYDER: What did you do before modeling? How and when did your story start?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: Well I left school because I got bullied and went and worked at Toni and Guy. My mum was at the
London College of Fashion at the time and one of her teachers saw a picture of me and said “Take he to an agency” so my mum took me into select and they took me on. When I got my first job, Italian Vogue which was a big shock because I thought I could never do this in a million years.

ph. Sølve Sundsbø for I-D magazine

PONY RYDER: Tell us about your name. When you first started out, you were listed as Eliza Presly. Is there a story behind the name change?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: Well when I started in Select they were like “you look just like Elvis!”, so they were like “Maybe it would be cool if you changed your name to Eliza Presly”. But then I changed it back to my legal name.

Ph. David Bellemere, source TFS by spqr

PONY RYDER: When your first started making buzz in the fashion industry, it was mainly because of your distinctively cool style and personality. It's a well known fact that personality is crucial to a model's career, but has it been even more important in your case?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: Well all of that is not true, everyone loved me for my look because I looked like a boy/Elvis. And also my personality, I show it in the camera. I love jumping around and having fun!

ph. Mariano Vivanco for Dazed and Confused

PONY RYDER: For a very long time you were being developed paired with Ash and you were appearing together on many covers, editorials and even polaroids and videos. Was this a deliberate or a spontaneous approach?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: Well I didn’t want any of that to happen, it just did when me and Ash first met - it was crazy because everyone was like “You look just like each other!” and then we became a couple and we had so much fun but we had to end it because of all this mumbo jumbo was doing are heads in. But we are still really good friends and still work together, we have so much fun.

source: TFS by spqr

PONY RYDER: Knowing that your style is a big part of your personality, how do you interpret a more classic look on the runway and on the photoshoots?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: I do what ever is asked of me, I’m a model, I have to, this is my job. I can give different looks and I guess that’s why people like me.

Ph. Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia
PONY RYDER: Your Vogue Italia April cover is splendid! Do you feel that a cover and an editorial such as that particular issue of Vogue Italia is the real you (in the sense of a high fashion sophisticated model), or do you prefer the image of a “wild girl”?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: Yeah, I love the cover because it is the real me, I look just like it.

Everyone that doesn’t know me is saying “OMG Photoshop!” but its not, that’s the real me.

I love working with Steven, he brings out the softer side of me and it is the real me. I am no punk like everyone says.

As Tom Jones puts it - “im a lady”. Wild girl haha! Yeah, when it comes to shoots, people dress me as a punk so to show on the camera I change my personality so it shows I’m a punk in the camera.

Ph. Robert Wyatt for 10 magazine
The Body
x
PONY RYDER: You seem very comfortable doing nude shoots. Do you think that partial nudity compliments the fashion pieces you wear, or do you just see it as an eye-catching distraction?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: I do what ever is asked. I don’t mind at all, I see it as art and most people like my body because I have boobs and a bum, most models don’t.

Dominic jewellery, source: TFS by luxie_dream

PONY RYDER: What is your favorite feature?
ELIZA CUMMINGS: My boobs.

PONY RYDER: How tall are you? Does your height dictate the type of jobs that you book?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: I’m 5ft9, however I look shorter because I am against 6ft models.

PONY RYDER: And how do you stay in shape?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: I go for a run round the park everyday with my dogs. And try to eat healthy!

Sonny Photos, source: TFS: Aja Mok

PONY RYDER: We see you being photographed with many established top models.

ELIZA CUMMINGS: All the ones I have met and worked with are lovely and they helped me a lot.

Most of them are crazy so I have a laugh with them.

Baby Baby Baby magazine

PONY RYDER: You have several excellent editorials, and as it seems, they just keep coming! So Eliza, tell us what’s your favorite picture of yourself?

ELIZA CUMMINGS: Well Vogue Italia cover because it’s such a big magazine to do as a model and it is so me.

But my best shoot has to be Baby Baby Baby mag because I had no make up and no hair done and it was so me as I am!
