PONY RYDER: I wonder Kinga, now that you are a huge name in the industry, do you get different treatment?
KINGA RAJZAK: Oh no there is no different treatment. I would be very embarrassed if there was. I like to be treated equally.
x
x
PONY RYDER: And do you get booked directly or you have to do castings as well?
KINGA RAJZAK: Apart from the show castings, I do not have ‘go sees’ any more. I am very happy about being able to be free. On the other hand, in the past I did my bit of running around.

POP F/W Ph: Viviane Sassen

x
PONY RYDER: Model apartments! Can you at least know who your roommates will be?
KINGA RAJZAK: Haha the question struck me! Model apartments are dark places with lots of new girls who are really newbies and have no idea what is going on. There is always a general tension in the air, the rooms are not the cleanest either. Well maybe I am too fussy and like things to be in order...I never ever stay in model apartments!

PONY RYDER: What do you do when you are not modeling?

KINGA RAJZAK: Books,books,books,music-classical,drum&base,drum&bass,break beat, electronic, rock&roll, oldies, theater, opera and friends, house parties and philosophical discussions! This is what I do in my free time and generally all the time!

POP F/W Ph: Viviane Sassen
x
x
PONY RYDER: Do you go to college?
x
KINGA RAJZAK: I am a student at Goldsmiths College, University of London and I am absolutely into it. It was probably the best choice I made after all those years of modeling. Honestly, my brain was drained and I was losing interest in everything. It was horrible...now I have enough intellectual work to do into what I can invest all my surplus energies. I am studying what I always wanted - sociology and politics. Extremely interesting!

A guide by

Living and Working in New York City
x
Stephanie Carta is with Elite (NY)

x
x
STEPHANIE CARTA: NYC is now becoming my home, just moved in with my amazing boyfriend (Jay) into a one bedroom in Soho, and have used all the things we already own to start with in the apartment.

Jays forte is lighting and interiors so he has already worked his magic with some vintage O.C-white Lamps, and were keeping it quite simple and old school. Recycled vintage rugs on the floor, one couch from his old apartment, a rocking chair we just found on the street and his amazing Macintosh stereo with BMW speakers. Soon we'll start the record collection...

x

New York being the eating out-street lifestyle it is, here are some of our favorite spots which we find it hard to via away from...

Jay has lived in the city almost 8 years, so he really knows what’s going on, and me coming fresh into the Big Apple with my own love of good food and health awareness...

x

This place is a regular for amazingly fresh sushimi (try sushimi salad and whitetail with fresh lemon juice) everything is good including the rolls, we like spicy tuna.. and lots of wasabi!
x
***

A bit on the expensive side but every part worth it
x
***
x
x
x
Jay is involved in the building and business of this new restaurant (after Freemans and Kingswood). We spend a lot of time here, and the food is great, especially eating out in the garden. It's Italian Mediterranean and my faves on the menu are beet salad / calamari as appetizers, and the arctic char. Also great pasta, steaks and roast chicken.
We bring our friends in for big dinners and on the menu is even a cocktail named "the Carta", after I had my first birthday dinner in New York there...Pomogranite margarita, you can't go wrong!!!

x
x
x
x
Also not the cheapest but really by far the best quality Mexican food and drink combo we've found. Jay first took me here and it’s hard for us to not consider it always...
The grilled fish tacos and modest and fresh, great salads and well done versions of all the other Mexican standards... Including the fresh margaritas to match...

x
x
x
x
...For great healthy takeaway lunches or dinner on the run + vitamins and groceries (a real model spot)
***

There is also good fresh and organic groceries @
"Trader Joes" down the road near Union Square, which they say is "the cheap version of Wholefoods"
x
x
***
x
x
I go here a lot to pick up a fresh juice, they have great combos. Also healthy takeaway deli style salads, hot foods and soups, a good vitamin range and organic skin and haircare upstairs

x
x
In the summer if you happen to go past a fruit stand with the fresh whole coconuts, they chop it for you and stick in a straw, a good walk by refreshment!
x
Anything you want in a salad, made with fresh ingredients, chopped , dressed fast, ! healthy ! x
x
x
Frozen margaritas, corn chips and guacamole! A good pass by on the weekend :)

MODELING
x
PONY RYDER: When did you start modeling? How were you scouted?
SAULO MELO: I was at a party in Rio de Janeiro and was scouted by Sergio Mattos.

PONY RYDER: Why did you stay in the same agency during all your “modeling” time?
SAULO MELO: I stayed at the same agency during all this time because they are really good and they really pay attention to me. It’s not the glamour, they really wanna make money, and that’s what I want too.

Butch Swimwear

PONY RYDER: When you were starting as a model, was it strange for you to do shootings?
SAULO MELO: It was really strange to be in front of the camera because I was shy and I didn’t like to be a model

FANS
x
PONY RYDER: Do you like the attention that you are getting? Do people recognize you on the street?
SAULO MELO: No, I don’t like it too much... would be good if I got a lot of money with no one recognizing me..ahahaha.. . Some of my friends always talk about the photos they have seen =).

PONY RYDER: Do you mainly have positive or negative experiences with fans?
SAULO MELO: Positive..never negative.

HOME
x
PONY RYDER: What is your hometown, and what do you like about it?
SAULO MELO: My hometown is a city close to Rio.. it’s called Niteroi… you just have to cross the big bridge that is in Rio.. It’s the best place in the world. People here know each other..wherever I go I have people I know..the women are the best in the world, and the beach is like a paradise...you have to check this out on Google! The beach is called ITACOATIARA.. it’s like a dream come true.

PONY RYDER: Is it true that the Brazil has special energy that can not be felt in other countries? If so, why?

The difference in Brazil is that you find a multiracial population that is so beautiful and happy that you can look at the crowd and feel the energy of all countries together.. I don’t know how to explain… just being here to feel and explain to yourself. hahahahaha.

PONY RYDER: Brazil is well known for their models! Who is your favorite Brazilian model?
